Who we are

What we collect, and why

• Reservation details. When you book a table or the venue, we collect your name, your cell number, your email address, the day, time and number of guests, your seating or area and any note you add. We use them only to hold your booking, to call you if something needs to change, and to email you your confirmation. Your email address is used for that confirmation only: no newsletters, and it is never shared or sold. Both booking forms on this site send the same details, by email, to the restaurant. If you book the venue, any notes you add (for example dietary requirements) are used only to prepare your event, so please share only what the restaurant needs to know.
• Visit statistics, described below. Google Analytics sets two cookies so a returning visitor is not counted twice.

Who processes it for us

• Netlify hosts the website.
• Resend delivers your booking by email to the restaurant’s inbox, and your confirmation to yours. Resend is based in the United States, so your request passes through its servers there on the way; it is protected under Resend’s data processing agreement, and Resend does not use it for anything else.
• Google Calendar is where the restaurant keeps its booking diary. Your booking is added to it automatically when you book: your name, cell number, email address, the day, time, number of guests, seating or area and your note are stored in the restaurant’s own Google account, and are removed on the same 90-day schedule as the email. Google is based in the United States.
• Google Analytics counts visits. We see page views, device type and city; advertising features are switched off. Google is based in the United States.

Each of these providers publishes a data processing agreement, which we hold on file.

Cookies

This site sets two cookies, both from Google Analytics: _ga and _ga_ZYKX8QJF51. They let our visit statistics recognise a returning browser and last up to two years (most browsers cap them at 400 days). They are never used for advertising. A single value in your browser’s session storage also remembers that the opening animation has played; it is deleted when you close the tab.

We rely on our legitimate interest in knowing how the website is used (POPIA section 11(1)(f)) rather than asking for consent, which is why there is no cookie banner. You can object at any time: block or delete cookies in your browser, or install Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on. The website works the same either way.

How long we keep it

If the e-mail to the restaurant cannot be delivered straight away, your booking is held on our host’s servers (Netlify, encrypted) and re-sent every few minutes until it arrives, then deleted. If it is delayed by more than 30 minutes, JV Studio, who runs this website for the restaurant, is emailed the booking so it can be passed on by phone. Anything undelivered after 30 days is deleted unsent.

We keep a booking for 90 days after the date of your visit, and then delete it from the restaurant’s inbox. Resend, which delivers the email, keeps its own delivery record for a short period under its data processing agreement. Contact us using the details above to see a booking request we hold, or to have it deleted sooner.

Your rights

You may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email the Information Officer above. You may also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).

Security

The site is served over HTTPS only, under a strict content security policy, with no third-party scripts beyond the analytics described above.
